BOOKING INFORMATION


Bookings will be taken on the direct telephone booking line +44 (0)1788 523303, which is staffed Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between the hours of Monday-Friday 9 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm hours by the switchboard operator.

Booking social visits

When booking, intending visitors will be required to provide the names of the person(s) visiting, and confirm that these are the names on the Visiting order (VO) sent out by the prisoner. A limit of three adults (with accompanying children) will normally apply.

Visitors in possession of a valid Visiting Order (VO) may book a subsequent visit at the Visitor's Centre following their visit.

Only one booking will be taken at any one time. Visiting places will be allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis, and that, other than in an emergency, social visits must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.

Visits are open Tuesday to Saturday between 1315-1715 hours and 1830-2030 hours. Entry is not allowed in the final 60 minutes of a visits session.

Visitors are required to book their visit, and can do so:
  • Up to a maximum of 28 days in advance, and preferably at least 24 hours in advance

  • Space permitting, on the day of the visit. Visitors arriving without a booking will be allocated the next available booking slot for the day (which may mean a considerable delay)
Booking official visits
Visits are open five afternoon and evening sessions per week. Official visitors will normally be required to book their visit at least 24 hours in advance.

There are four official visits booths available in the visits hall. These are to facilitate private interviews between a prisoner and an official visitor e.g. lawyer, police, external probation officer etc.

All official visits must be booked in the Official Visits Register for the appropriate day. All relevant details must be taken, to include the company/organisation, contact name, telephone number and extension, and the name(s) and number of prisoner(s). If there is any doubt over the authenticity of the visit, the visitor details must be confirmed by reference back to the company concerned.

Visits can be booked Monday to Friday, between 0900 hours and 1700. Visits can take place between 10.00 hours and 12.00 hours three days during the week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (not weekends).

There is no maximum time limit for official visits.

Visitor identification
All visitors to closed prison over the age of 18, whether visiting for social or official purposes will be required to prove their identity at Reception. A list of acceptable forms of identification can be found on the What visitors should expect section.

No visitor will be refused entry without reference to the Senior Manager on duty. The Director has the discretion to accept any form of identification that clearly identifies the visitor in a satisfactory way.
