SPORTS FACILITIES
Here at HMP Rye Hill our aim is to make a major contribution to the
regimes of the prison by providing professional, purposeful and constructive
physical education, which will prepare prisoners for reintegration
into the community and contribute towards developing the employability
of prisoners upon release.
We provide opportunities for personal development and contribute towards
developing employability of prisoners upon release through nationally
accredited awards.
Fitness Centre
The Fitness Centre provides a modern facility enabling both prisoners
and staff to raise their physical fitness levels through personal
fitness programmes, remedial training and enjoyable recreational activities. |
The Sports Centre has a capacity of 60 prisoners. 30 in the Fitness
Room and 30 in the Sports Hall, having a staff team of 7 who supervise
and instruct the prisoners throughout their sessions. |
Fitness Centre
The Fitness Room includes treadmills, rowing machines and steppers
in the cardiovascular section, and a multitude of free and fixed weights
including an Olympic Bar, Smith Machine, dumbbells up to 35kg and
a variety of barbells and benches. Sports

different activities are available in the Sports Hall

Staff Activities
Staff are encouraged to make use of the Sports Hall and numerous activities
are laid on at lunch times for staff use, including circuits, spinning
and rackets.
Anyone wishing to use the Sports Centre must first complete the centre
induction programme and be passed medically fit. |
